Join Us for Our GSX Panel: Natural Disaster Preparedness: Integrating Risk Analysis into GSOC Operations
When we think of physical security, we’re often thinking about crime. However, natural disasters are a significant security risk for every type of organization, and unlike people-related security issues, they often can’t be prevented.
They’re also increasingly common. In 2024, there were 27 confirmed natural disasters in the U.S., each costing more than $1 billion. Last year’s disasters included a drought, a flood, 17 severe storms, five tropical cyclones, one wildfire, and two winter storms.
How can you defend your organization against fires, floods, storms, and other natural disasters? We’ll address this at GSX 2025 in our panel, Natural Disaster Preparedness: Integrating Risk Analysis into GSOC Operations.
What impact do disasters have on security?
Natural disasters pose significant risks to an organization. This can mean anything from an interruption of businesses due to power outages to a tornado that threatens the people and assets at a site. They may seem inevitable, but that doesn’t mean an organization is powerless.
While weather-related security incidents can’t be prevented, they can be planned for in advance. The first step in preparedness is comprehensive risk assessment.
This presentation focuses on the role of risk analysis in preparing for and mitigating the impact of natural disasters. Through real-world examples, our experts will demonstrate how proactive planning, data-driven insights, and cross-functional coordination can reduce the risk of weather-related security incidents and speed up your response to natural disasters.
Attendees will learn how to use risk analysis to identify vulnerabilities specific to natural disasters within their organizational operations, incorporate natural disaster scenarios and mitigation strategies into the functions of a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), and how to improve disaster response through data-driven planning and coordination.
